CHRIS PAYKEL

A great nephew of the late Joyce, Lady Fisher, Chris is a keen sailor and passionate about the outdoors.

Chris completed a training voyage on the Spirit of New Zealand, crossing the Tasman post the Australian bicentenary in 1988. Chris also completed a semester at the National Outdoor Leadership School (N.O.L.S) in Wyoming, while completing his Bachelor of Science (BSc) at the University of New Hampshire in the United States.

Chris says the Trust will continue to provide opportunities for youth leadership with a focus in South Auckland, whilst supporting in other areas that were close to his great Aunt’s heart – education, environment, and community support.

Chris is Country Manager, New Zealand for Qatar Airways, is a trustee of the Ipipiri Nature Conservancy Trust, sits as an executive board member on the New Zealand Middle East Business Council (NZMEBC), Board of Aviation Representatives New Zealand (BARNZ) and is a member of the New Zealand Institute of Directors.

JOHN MCFETRIDGE

John has been associated with the trust since 2014 and is an experienced and successful leader in the delivery of uncompromising professional trustee and fiduciary services. John has held a number of senior roles in the industry, most recently Managing Director of Perpetual Trust Ltd and General Manager Private Client Services at Perpetual Guardian..

While at Perpetual Guardian, John oversaw more than 550 charitable trusts with assets totalling ~$820m and annual distributions of ~$40m to trusts and communities around NZ and abroad. John says, “It’s a true privilege to be able to fulfil Joyce’s charitable legacy and a humbling experience to be able to follow the great work that she initiated. Equally, it’s fantastic to have family member co-trustees to work with, which improves the engaging relationships we enjoy across the charitable/NFP sector.”

John holds a number of directorships, is a member of the Executor and Trustee Institute, the NZ Institute of Directors and global Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.

GARY PAYKEL

Gary is a nephew of the late Joyce, Lady Fisher.

Gary has a distinguished career in business administration having risen rapidly through the management ranks of Fisher and Paykel culminating in appointments as Managing Director and Chief Executive from 1987 – 2001. 

His directors’ appointments include Executive Chairman of Fisher and Paykel Appliances Holding Ltd and Chairman of both Fisher and Paykel Appliances Holdings Ltd and Fisher and Paykel Healthcare Corporation Ltd. 

Gary’s not-for-profit experience includes being the Inaugural Chairman of St Cuthberts Foundation, Patron of Eastern Bays Hospice and Chairman of the Maurice Paykel Charitable Trust. He has received many accolades for his services to the community, the highest being the Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit, awarded by Her Majesty the Queen, the late Queen Elizabeth II in 2001.
