JOYCE FISHER EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIPS

The Joyce Fisher Education Scholarships were initiated in 2011 in partnership with the Saint Kentigern Trust Board to offer exceptional Māori and Pasifika students, in South Auckland from families who would be otherwise unable to consider alternative schooling, the opportunity to experience an education that will meet the specifications of the  JFCT’s mission statement. The strong service culture at Saint Kentigern (“to serve and lead with distinction”) was identified as an ideal environment for the Trust’s objectives.

Recommendations of suitable candidates in Year 6 are made by South Auckland primary school principals and also by the principals of the Saint Kentigern Boys’ and Girls’ Schools from scholarship applicants to those schools. It is not possible to apply directly for a Joyce Fisher Education Scholarship.

The scholarship programme has up to 28 students enrolled across the three Saint Kentigern campuses and is known for the development of leadership qualities in its scholars. Since inception, there have been numerous leadership appointments from its alumni at all Saint Kentigern campuses including a Head Girl and a Head Boy of the College.
